Band Bio

The Kevin Reed Band has been  performing balls-to-the-wall, classic rock-and-roll since December 1998, but their musical talent and experience spans across decades.  Based in Brunswick, they play clubs, fests, private parties and benefit performances across Northern Ohio.

Vocalist Clayton Doty, trained at the Berklee College of music in Boston, drives the band to energetic heights, flaunting a repertoire encompassing the Animals to Led ZeppelinNeil Bartos of Deep Purple tribute band Stormbringer fame, unleashes his lead guitar in a barrage of explosive riffs, while volleying against the taunting keyboard arpeggios of classically trained keyboardist Craig Reed.  The rock-solid rhythm foundation is structured by bassist Dale Work and punctuated by drummer Kevin Reed.

It is a band that almost did not exist.  A tree felled by a co-worker during Spring break in 1994 nearly crushed Kevin’s dream of a career as a percussionist.  After being declared a dead man, a 75-day coma, multiple surgeries, and more than 2500 therapy sessions, he has relearned to talk, walk and live again.  Drumming, however, was never lost and provides the foundation of his incredible rehabilitation.

In fact, Kevin’s ordeal spawned Odyssey, a rock percussion suite written by Kevin Reed, which describes his catastrophic injury, 75-day coma, rehabilitation and celebration of life.  It is the title track of the Kevin Reed band debut album, released in 2002.  The CD is rounded out with  three original rock tunes written by Neil Bartos, two tunes written by Craig Reed and two rockin' standards.  [Click on "Store" icon at left or hyperlink below for more CD info.]
